Sun Is Shining, The Weather Is Sweet

Vest, Scarf, Loafers: Topshop
Skirt: American Apparel
Necklace: Dorothy Perkins
'Tis an absolutely glorious day today. It sure is a lot easier to plan your dissertation with the sun beaming through your window! An excellent job Monday, well done. Canterbury is so beautiful in the sun; I can't wait until my work load subsides and I can go and take some proper photos of this gorgeous city to share with you.

I Covet Thee, A New Bag

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6
Blogging has once again taken a back seat, not only due to the stresses of the undergraduate life, but also because my memory card has sadly gone walkabouts. I have a couple of items in the pipeline that I really want to review so I am hoping that it turns up soon as there are also a fair few photos that I want to get printed and have not saved anywhere else. Back up people, back up!

This weekend, Rob and I ventured to Bluewater as it is a rare treat that he has some dollar in his pocket and it was burning some what of a hole. There really were few things on my wish need list that I hoped to find, a new pair of jeans were about as exciting as it got! I despair at the thought of jeans shopping, being of a petite stance; too often petite jeans will fit length ways but not around my hips, either being far too big or far too small yet equally as troublesome, and vice versa. I tend to find that only Topshop salvages this problem but at extortionate prices and not very good quality; I have found that their skinny jeans are not capable of holding out for more than a handful of wears and washes before the material starts to fade and unravel itself, and for 40 quid I expect a hell of a lot more.

And then there's Dorothy Perkins. Brilliant, underrated Dorothy Perkins. Stumbling into their petite section and finding their jeans at a mere fraction of Topshop's price, I decided to give them a go only to be very happily surprised. The length is perfect as is the measurements around the hips, very true to size I would say; a jean that truly accommodates for the petite fille. Plus, with a whopping 25% student discount at the moment, it is a worthy investment. Does anybody else have this much trouble buying jeans?

Anyway, to finish quickly as I have babbled quite a bit, one thing that I really did want and, to be fair, am in desperate need of is a new bag. A large bag, big enough and sturdy enough to accommodate for all of my handbag needs. For day to day life, I prefer a smaller, more compact bag, but my uni bag is falling to shreds after about 4 years of day to day usage and so I reckon that warrants a new investment! The bags I have chosen above are my favourites that I have found whilst scouring shops and the web alike, but I am holding out until I have scoured some more. Any recommendations as to where else I should look?

I Covet Thee, Christmas

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5
It feels like an absolute age since I did an I Covet Thee post. I haven't really had the time or been overly inspired to create one recently, but with Christmas approaching it is time to start thinking of answers for that oh-so-awkward question, 'What do you want?' After losing the bottom of one of my boots last week and having to resort to limping on several pins sticking out of the heel for the rest of the day, a new pair is definitely top of my list! I've had my eye on these tan ankle boots for months now (I'm surprised they're still in stock). I usually get a few pieces of clothing and anything knitted/sheer/pleated is fine with me à la Topshop cardigan and Yayer dress above! Other little bits I'd like are socks (I love novelty socks, I canny get enough of them), Liz Earle samples (I've heard very good things and really need to improve my skincare) and some second hand books. I like books that have been worn in a bit and I'm one of those anti-kindle people! I like browsing book stores and charity shops for new reads and that would most likely come to an end with a kindle. The ol' fashioned page turners are how novels should be read!

My news feeds at the moment seem to be inundated with a mixture of people who have started, nearly finished or already finished their Christmas shopping. I, for one, have only just begun to think about what to buy people. I have the odd idea floating around but need to get proactive! Secret Santa exchanges are happening in my house next Tuesday so I really need to get a move on!

On another note, Amalea from Luscious asked me to do a short survey for her this week for her blog. There are some other bloggers featured too so head on over and have a read and a follow!

I Covet Thee, DP

1...2...3...4...5...6...7

So, day 2 of my work placement with my local paper and it's going just swimmingly! Yesterday when I arrived I was sent out straight away with the paper's photographer to photograph a local couple who were celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary, yes, DIAMOND. 60 years of marriage, can you imagine? Bloody 'ell... It's not really front-page-news-read-all-about-it stuff but they're letting me get really involved in what they do which is what I was hoping for; I haven't made one cup of tea or coffee, THEY bring ME hot drinks. And kit kats, gotta love the kit kats. In the afternoon I then worked with the events department and spent quite a few hours on the phone arranging an exhibition that's going to be held in November in my town. Safe to say I felt like a broken record by the end of the day. All part of the experience though!

Today I went to the Magistrates Court with one of the reporters which is one of the most horrible, horible places I have ever been to. It was really fascinating sitting in on the hearings but my word it is grim. One boy did get sent to prison for this and that (Eastbournians can read about it on Friday). ''TAKE HIM DOWN.'' Favourite part of the day.

So, with an hour and a half to kill for lunch I had a ponder around the shops and Dorothy Perkins is not looking all too shabby at the mo. Eastbourne hasn't got the largest selection of shops, so looking through their website as well I managed to find a few more items to piece together this week's I Covet Thee post. Enjoy!

I am a little bit excited about tomorrow as I am off to do some work experience with my local newspaper for the week! I'm looking forward to getting a proper insight into what goes into making a newspaper and hopefully I'll come out the other side still set on becoming a writer (hold the tea and coffee making PER-lease!)

For the past week or so I have been fretting over what I should wear. I think so many people imagine 'smart dress code' to mean limiting yourself to black and white pencil skirts and buttoned up blouses. So, whilst casually browsing through some on line high street sites, I decided that for today's post I would assemble a few outfits that I think fit the 'smart dress code' mould but break the 'black and white is smart' cliché.

My favourite pieces have got to be the Topshop Klover Gold Trim Suede Shoes and the Miss Selfridge Vintage Leather Briefcase; I want them more than a fat kid wants cake. Gosh darn those extortionate price tags. Now, where's my boyfriend...
