I Covet Thee, Pastel Wardrobe

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7

I really could get used to these summery evenings and waking up to the sun beaming through my curtains. The blue sky's set to stick around for at least the next week or so and I for one, sure hope that it does. Fingers and toes and all other crossable limbs are crossed for a real summer this year. Not the standard English, 'Here's your one week heat wave folks! See ya next year, perhaps..' No sir-ee. I'm sure when I was in school the majority of my summer holidays would be spent at the beach, in the sea and returning home to a horrified mother after catching one too many rays. Whatever happened to that? I miss it.

The weather has made me realise that I need to brighten up my wardrobe; far too much black, grey and blues hanging around, and I want pastels. If I could just have all of the above, that'd be just swell, please and thank you bank of Mum and bank of Rob (ha!) The Asos dresses are my favourite and there are a few more different patterns and shades on line, I could just build a summer wardrobe out of these dresses alone and I would be one happy so and so. I might just have to settle with the Peach Melba Barry M nail polish though; cheapest product, isn't it? Alas...

Asos Fashion Finder

So I was linked to this photo of me which is currently being sported on the Asos Fashion Finder website after being snapped at the TOWIB event by the Asos Fashion Finder Team (who do I think I am?) The black dress I'm wearing is from H&M, the blouse is a vintage Christmas present from my brother and my tanned Chelsea boots and necklace were yet more Christmas presents from the boy. So glad I fixed that odd button the night before now!

I'm so glad that it highlights how small I am *sigh* and has convinced me that I desperately need to invest in some comfy heeled day time footwear because this midget look is just not floating my boat.

You can see lots more snaps of far more fashionable bloggers than myself on the Asos Fashion Finder site here!

I Covet Thee, A New Bag

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6
Blogging has once again taken a back seat, not only due to the stresses of the undergraduate life, but also because my memory card has sadly gone walkabouts. I have a couple of items in the pipeline that I really want to review so I am hoping that it turns up soon as there are also a fair few photos that I want to get printed and have not saved anywhere else. Back up people, back up!

This weekend, Rob and I ventured to Bluewater as it is a rare treat that he has some dollar in his pocket and it was burning some what of a hole. There really were few things on my wish need list that I hoped to find, a new pair of jeans were about as exciting as it got! I despair at the thought of jeans shopping, being of a petite stance; too often petite jeans will fit length ways but not around my hips, either being far too big or far too small yet equally as troublesome, and vice versa. I tend to find that only Topshop salvages this problem but at extortionate prices and not very good quality; I have found that their skinny jeans are not capable of holding out for more than a handful of wears and washes before the material starts to fade and unravel itself, and for 40 quid I expect a hell of a lot more.

And then there's Dorothy Perkins. Brilliant, underrated Dorothy Perkins. Stumbling into their petite section and finding their jeans at a mere fraction of Topshop's price, I decided to give them a go only to be very happily surprised. The length is perfect as is the measurements around the hips, very true to size I would say; a jean that truly accommodates for the petite fille. Plus, with a whopping 25% student discount at the moment, it is a worthy investment. Does anybody else have this much trouble buying jeans?

Anyway, to finish quickly as I have babbled quite a bit, one thing that I really did want and, to be fair, am in desperate need of is a new bag. A large bag, big enough and sturdy enough to accommodate for all of my handbag needs. For day to day life, I prefer a smaller, more compact bag, but my uni bag is falling to shreds after about 4 years of day to day usage and so I reckon that warrants a new investment! The bags I have chosen above are my favourites that I have found whilst scouring shops and the web alike, but I am holding out until I have scoured some more. Any recommendations as to where else I should look?

I Covet Thee, Asos

So many beautiful clothes that I want. So little money that I have to spend on them! Today I consumed far too much caffeine that I'm surprised I didn't end up having heart palpitations and  finally ran 116511 of the 216961313 errands that I have to do before moving back to my beloved Canterbury on Friday. Braving Eastbourne town centre to acquire the essentials I need to make it in the big bad world all on my own proved tough when all I wanted to do was kit myself out with a new wardrobe; I had to squeeze my eyes shut with each passing of Topshop. I did make a sneaky stop at the Clinique counter though to get a refill sample of the foundation I want. I refuse to buy it until I have exhausted all my free sample options AND made the rounds on the Chanel Mat Lumière foundation samples too. Then I'll pick and buy a favourite. A poor girl's gotta do what a poor girl's gotta do, right? Even the on line shopping heaven that is ASOS is sucking me in by playing it's 'you'll want everything this season' card and 20% off student discount. Whenever my purse is empty the shops call my name, LOUDLY; as soon as the pennies are mine the shops fill up with...... But my rent is high this semester and my loan is low, teamed with birthdays, a wedding and Christmas at the end it is a recipe for financial disaster. These I Covet Thee posts sure are testing my will power. But I do need jumpers and a new winter coat and when is a new dress or shoes ever an inappropriate purchase? Never, I tell you, never.

I am a little bit excited about tomorrow as I am off to do some work experience with my local newspaper for the week! I'm looking forward to getting a proper insight into what goes into making a newspaper and hopefully I'll come out the other side still set on becoming a writer (hold the tea and coffee making PER-lease!)

For the past week or so I have been fretting over what I should wear. I think so many people imagine 'smart dress code' to mean limiting yourself to black and white pencil skirts and buttoned up blouses. So, whilst casually browsing through some on line high street sites, I decided that for today's post I would assemble a few outfits that I think fit the 'smart dress code' mould but break the 'black and white is smart' cliché.

My favourite pieces have got to be the Topshop Klover Gold Trim Suede Shoes and the Miss Selfridge Vintage Leather Briefcase; I want them more than a fat kid wants cake. Gosh darn those extortionate price tags. Now, where's my boyfriend...
