I Covet Thee, Pastel Wardrobe

I really could get used to these summery evenings and waking up to the sun beaming through my curtains. The blue sky's set to stick around for at least the next week or so and I for one, sure hope that it does. Fingers and toes and all other crossable limbs are crossed for a real summer this year. Not the standard English, 'Here's your one week heat wave folks! See ya next year, perhaps..' No sir-ee. I'm sure when I was in school the majority of my summer holidays would be spent at the beach, in the sea and returning home to a horrified mother after catching one too many rays. Whatever happened to that? I miss it.

The weather has made me realise that I need to brighten up my wardrobe; far too much black, grey and blues hanging around, and I want pastels. If I could just have all of the above, that'd be just swell, please and thank you bank of Mum and bank of Rob (ha!) The Asos dresses are my favourite and there are a few more different patterns and shades on line, I could just build a summer wardrobe out of these dresses alone and I would be one happy so and so. I might just have to settle with the Peach Melba Barry M nail polish though; cheapest product, isn't it? Alas...

'Tis an absolutely glorious day today. It sure is a lot easier to plan your dissertation with the sun beaming through your window! An excellent job Monday, well done. Canterbury is so beautiful in the sun; I can't wait until my work load subsides and I can go and take some proper photos of this gorgeous city to share with you. 

I Covet Thee, Christmas

It feels like an absolute age since I did an I Covet Thee post. I haven't really had the time or been overly inspired to create one recently, but with Christmas approaching it is time to start thinking of answers for that oh-so-awkward question, 'What do you want?' After losing the bottom of one of my boots last week and having to resort to limping on several pins sticking out of the heel for the rest of the day, a new pair is definitely top of my list! I've had my eye on these tan ankle boots for months now (I'm surprised they're still in stock). I usually get a few pieces of clothing and anything knitted/sheer/pleated is fine with me à la Topshop cardigan and Yayer dress above! Other little bits I'd like are socks (I love novelty socks, I canny get enough of them), Liz Earle samples (I've heard very good things and really need to improve my skincare) and some second hand books. I like books that have been worn in a bit and I'm one of those anti-kindle people! I like browsing book stores and charity shops for new reads and that would most likely come to an end with a kindle. The ol' fashioned page turners are how novels should be read! 

My news feeds at the moment seem to be inundated with a mixture of people who have started, nearly finished or already finished their Christmas shopping. I, for one, have only just begun to think about what to buy people. I have the odd idea floating around but need to get proactive! Secret Santa exchanges are happening in my house next Tuesday so I really need to get a move on!

After a week of being some what absent from the blogging world I am hoping that I will find the time to fit in a fair few posts this week to make up for it. I'm not a fan of drafting something before I do it and not just blog posts; if I am going to do something, I am going to do it and finish it there and then! Think I need to train myself to stagger things a bit more and hopefully I'll be able to fit everything in around uni. 

This weekend the boy came up to visit me at uni as he has just finished recording his album in the studio. I am so excited to hear the finished product, I've heard so many snippets of it here and there and it sounds bloomin' amazing. So before rehearsals resumed for their tour supporting Little Comets this month (which might look and sound a little like this) it was great to have a full couple of days just to hang out and he finally introduced me to the magic that is Peter Kay, (I live under a rock). There is nothing better than laughing 'til your tummy aches, and that we certainly did. 

So, onto my I Covet Thee post which this week goes to the Chelsea Boot that has for some time now been doing the rounds of the fashion world. I am completely in love with the Topshop ones but I just cannot bring myself to spend that much money on them, even with their 20% off at the moment! I found a very similar pair in River Island, the only real difference being that they do not have the platform sole and the heel is slightly shorter. My problem here though is that I just don't think I love them as much as I do the Allegras, even if the difference is minimal.What to do, what to doooo?! Help me girls...

I am a little bit excited about tomorrow as I am off to do some work experience with my local newspaper for the week! I'm looking forward to getting a proper insight into what goes into making a newspaper and hopefully I'll come out the other side still set on becoming a writer (hold the tea and coffee making PER-lease!) 

For the past week or so I have been fretting over what I should wear. I think so many people imagine 'smart dress code' to mean limiting yourself to black and white pencil skirts and buttoned up blouses. So, whilst casually browsing through some on line high street sites, I decided that for today's post I would assemble a few outfits that I think fit the 'smart dress code' mould but break the 'black and white is smart' cliché. 

My favourite pieces have got to be the Topshop Klover Gold Trim Suede Shoes and the Miss Selfridge Vintage Leather Briefcase; I want them more than a fat kid wants cake. Gosh darn those extortionate price tags. Now, where's my boyfriend...

Okay, so I know I rave on about Topshop a lot on here as I do love almost everything in stock at the mo and I have already mentioned this dress in the I Covet Thee, Topshop post that I did a couple of weeks back... But when I got home today this dress had arrived and I cannot praise it enough; my word it is beautiful! I'm very, very tempted to say that it is my favourite dress purchase ever! (Bold statement, I know, you don't have to tell me!) I cannot believe that I was ever hesitant to buy it, my palms are sweating at the thought of it having passed me by.... As soon as I can find a room with better lighting and a more aesthetically pleasing background than that which my bedroom has to offer, I will do an outfit post for this!

Okay, enough gushing, time to get a grip!
